Company history

1989
The manufacture of brake linings begins.
1992
The company decides to have a bigger plant and increase the production capacity. In this year the heavy-duty truck brake linings are released in the market as well as the other references for Mercedes-Benz, Scania and Volvo.
1993
The company releases the line of products with DNA-38 material, which was already 100% asbestos-free in those days.
1995
The Duroline S.A. company undergoes a split process, originating two companies with different boards of directors: Duroline S.A., performing in the automotive parts field and Sulcromo S.A., performing in the metal-mechanic field. Both still belong to the same group. In this same year Duroline S.A. begins its internationalization by selling the products in South and Central America.
1996
The company´s production reaches the number of 1,250,000 of brake lining sets manufactured.
1997
The asbestos-free Premium line is launched.
1998
Duroline S.A. doubles its production and sales volume compared to the year of 1996, proving the company´s potential and consolidation in the market.
1999
Aiming at excellence in the production and commercialization of its products, the company is accredited with ISO 9001:1994 and SP-Trans Engineering and Technology certifications.
2000
Duroline S.A. first exports to North America, Europe, Africa and Oceania.
2001
The company is awarded the bronze medal PGQP (Gaucho´s Program of Quality and Productivity - from the State of Rio Grande do Sul) and is accredited with the ISO 9001:2000 Certification.
2002
The company is accredited with the Certificate of Social Responsibility by the Assembléia Legislativa do Estado do Rio Grande do Sul (Rio Grande do Sul State Legislative Assembly) and the Recertification SP - Trans. In this same year, the DNA-38 material, produced and used by Duroline S.A. for the manufacture of brake linings, is qualified by the Performance Review Institute (USA) for axles up to 23,000 pounds, which is commercialized in the United states under the product category of High Performance Premium.
2003
Duroline North America Inc. is founded in the United States, as a sales and distribution unit of Duroline´s products manufactured in Brazil. The unit is located in Chesepeake, Virginia. In the same year the company is awarded the prize for Outstanding Social Responsibility 2003.
2004
Duroline S.A. begins manufacturing brake pads. In this year 675 thousand sets of brake linings are sold.
2005
The company restructures its manufacturing plants, purchases new machinery and begins the reorganization of the production lay-out aiming at adaptations to the new competitive moment.
2007
With the new industrial structure and the increased production capacity, which reached 12 million parts/year, Duroline S.A. expands exportation to all continents, opens an office in Shanghai, China and closes important technical/commercial deals in several parts of the world.
2008
Main transformations have been consolidated and the technological/ commercial deals have been carried out, Duroline now expands its commercial presence in the United States, begins the testing and commercialization stage for the new high performance products and increases its participation in the global market. Borrachas Vipal and Duroline consolidate a new strategic alliance for auto-parts in the field of brakes and components. Believing in the project of Duroline´s industrial and commercial restructuring, the Vipal Group becomes part of the company with 49% of the shares.
Vipal Rubber Plant and Duroline make a strategic agreement in the spare parts segment, brake segment and components. Vipal buys 49% of Duroline shares, so believing together they can go farther.

2009

Duroline S.A. announces the formation of a new strategic alliance with STEMCO, a company from the EnPro Industries Group, located in Longview, Texas, USA. Stemco-Duroline intensifies its participation in the market of brake linings and components for on-highway commercial vehicles in North America (United States, Canada and Mexico).

Duroline announces a strategic alliance with the Argentinian company Fervi Air, manufacturer of tubes, suspension sets and pneumatic valves, located in Buenos Aires.

With that partnership, Duroline, renowned as one of the greatest trademarks in the market of brakes and components for the heavy-duty line, starts supplying products for another area : the suspension. For Fervi Air, in the market since 1977 and supplier of products for Argentinian assembling companies like Mercedes-Benz and Agrale, the alliance represents the doorway to the Brazilian market.
